This barn is inspired by the great Dutch barns that are prevalent in the northeast United states. Their most prominent feature is the massive anchor beam with a through tenon that was typically rounded and wedged. This barn has a footprint of 54’ x 80’ with 6 bents and 5 walls with a ridge line. We can’t source 80’ long timbers so we have to scarf them together to mimic one long timber. This barn has 28 scarf joints in it! This barn in either yellow or white pine is $87,000, white oak would be $118,000, and $123,000 for douglas fir.
